Why WÈ
The work is only part of the story.
Artists are often introduced by what they make. WÈ looks at what surrounds the making.
The studio. The ritual. The place. The life beyond the frame. The truths that don't make the caption.
Through photography, writing, and design, each issue creates room to encounter artists as whole people and their work as part of a larger life.
The portrait is not the conclusion. It is an invitation.
To look longer. To notice what sits beyond the frame. To meet the person before reducing them to what they produce.
About the founder
WÈ was founded and is independently published by Jessica Ballerstein, a Haitian American photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in San Diego.
